- To convene a scientific regional conference that deals with the
status of justice in the Arab region periodically and more often if
necessary. Following this, a presentation of its recommendations as
regards to solving the problems faced by the judiciary in the Arab states
to concerned bodies and ministries in said states.
- To convene scientific and intellectual seminars and develop
studies that are concerned with and have an impact on the legal and
legislative status in the Arab region.
- To assist researchers on studies relating to justice and
freedoms.
- To cooperate with legal institutions and law colleges in Arab
states in order to convene conferences and seminars for law professors to
examine the means of advancing legal education.
- To hold training courses for lawyers and activists in the Arab
states on human rights and the use of international instruments before
national courts.
- To train lawyers on the principles of fair and impartial trials.
- To provide Arab lawyers and judges with ACIJLP’s publications and
various training methods.
- To offer support and assistance for Arab lawyers and judges whose
rights are being violated for reasons of / or during practicing their
work.
- To submit complaints and inquiries regarding the exposure of
violations of the independence of judiciary and legal profession to
authorities in concerned countries.
- To monitor investigations and trials that judges and lawyers are
subjected to.
- To monitor exceptional trials and to ensure the maintenance of
standards of fair justice.
- To publish an annual report on justice that states the regulative
and legislative developments within the field of justice in the Arab
regions as well as violations that the independence of judiciary and legal
profession are subjected to. In addition it states professionals’
recommendations to eliminate these violations whether related to
legislation or Practice.
- To support or conduct technical, legal and media campaigns
regarding the violations of human rights generally, or of those who work
in the field of justice in any country in the world.
- To publish reports or studies on general violations of human
rights in any country in the world.
- To convene conferences, seminars and training courses and to
issue publications in order to raise governmental and non-governmental
awareness of the significance of the International Criminal Court as one
of the most important and modern mechanisms to establish criminal justice
broadly and also as a crucial mechanism to defend human rights.
- To hold educative seminars on new international covenants
regarding justice in general and criminal justice specifically.
- To attend investigations or trials of judges or lawyers.
- To defend the accused in cases relating to rights and public
freedoms.
- To present technical support to defenders of human rights cases
and to train lawyers on the administration of these cases.
- To offer advice and technical support to governments and
international institutions concerned with draft laws relating to the
statuses of justice, rights and freedoms.
- To form specialized advisory committees of experts and
specialists who work in ACIJLP or who are recommended by ACIJLP.
- To establish an information center and Arab legal library which
includes the legislations of Arab regions and judicial provision
principles issued by courts of cessation and Arab high courts.
