Canada school shooting: Teen kills 4, including his own brothers and teacher – TomoNews

LA LOCHE, CANADA — Four people have been killed on Friday in Canada’s worst school shooting in 10 years according to Reuters. Police in the town of La Loche, Saskatchewan announced that the teen shooter was taken into custody after attacking the La Loche Community School.

The teen shooter killed two of his brothers in the home they shared before 1 p.m. According to the Canadian Press, he then stated on social media “Just killed 2 ppl. Bout to shoot ip the school.”

Once inside the school, the teen killed 23-year-old teacher Marie Janvier, and an assistant. Reports indicated that several students were undergoing surgery, but did not say how many were injured.

At 1:47 p.m., police arrested the teen shooter outside of the school and seized a gun.

Joe Lemaigre, a friend of the family of the shooter, told Reuters “After he shot his two brothers, he walked back to school and he shot … a teacher and a girl. They’re both dead. Four of them died.”

“I know the family. Their mother worked in Fort McMurray and his grandfather went to Meadow Lake to do some shopping. That’s when he shot them.”

The only victim whose identity has been confirmed is teacher Marie Janvier, whose death was confirmed in an interview with CKBI radio by her father, Kevin Janvier, who is the acting mayor of La Loche.
